NCC Sussex Innit to Winnit
Its been a while since I have ventured into the bad lands of East Sussex. Where they
have some villages and castles with strange names, due to the French invasion back
in 1066 (should that be 6 minutes past 11?) and shops selling nothing but trugs.
Not in the need for anything for the garden I avoided these. But with so many folk
at bike meet on the previous Thursday saying “see you Saturday” I put my best foot
forward and I was soon at the Bulls Head for the NCC Sussex “Innit to Winnit” show.
As ever although on time, the field was filling up quick, and I really liked the
way each vehicle on the showground had a number on their headlamp, and one for NCC
if a NCC vehicle to aid in the public vote. As soon as the ice cream van rocked up
that was it day almost perfect for me.
I was completely taken back in time with a glorious Triumph X75 replica and besides
it a bonnie version, something I always wanted to do to either of my T140 Bonneville’s
and would have been the bike I would have loved to ride home from show. But always
needed the cash for oil and replacing the parts that would fall off, odd how bikes
which give you most hassle you think back on fondly.
Great to see Layla there on her BSA who only realised show was on day before but
came away with a trophy. We stood for ages catching up on her adventures around Europe
on the BSA (who says you need an adventure bike to travel) and her plans for the
engine she in creating.
The usual rockabilly band was replaced by a metal band this year “Boundless” and
while I am not a great metal fan, they had a real tight set, and the lead singer
guitarist was enthusiastically strolling around the site in his kilt and guitar.
They also played some interesting choices from Rush and similar.
Ice cream of course sampled it was then down to presentations and I love the way
that the chopper club make people bring bikes up, no trailer queens here
A great day and lovely to see some friends like Paul on his machless as well
